The Right Seat
for Every Child

We provide four types of approved child restraint to cover every age from newborn to 12 years old. Tell us your child's age and weight when booking and we will fit the correct seat before your journey.

Infant Carrier
Birth to 13 kg

Designed for newborns and very young babies who must travel rear-facing. The safest way to transport infants in any vehicle, distributing crash forces across the baby's back, neck, and head.

Age range: Newborn to approximately 12–15 months
Weight range: Up to 13 kg
Fitting: Rear-facing only — the safest orientation for infants
Standard: ECE R44/04 or i-Size approved
Baby Seat
9 kg – 18 kg (Group 1)

Suitable for toddlers and young children who have outgrown the infant carrier. Forward or rear-facing depending on weight, with a full harness system for maximum security during the journey.

Age range: Approximately 9 months to 4 years
Weight range: 9 kg to 18 kg
Fitting: Forward or rear-facing with five-point harness
Standard: ECE R44/04 or i-Size approved
High-Back Booster
15 kg – 36 kg (Group 2/3)

A high-back booster seat for older children who have outgrown the baby seat. The full back support and adjustable headrest provide excellent side-impact protection alongside the vehicle seatbelt.

Age range: Approximately 3 to 12 years
Weight range: 15 kg to 36 kg
Fitting: Forward-facing, secured with the vehicle seatbelt
Standard: ECE R44/04 or i-Size approved

Simple to Request.
Ready When You Are.

Child seats must be pre-booked — we do not carry them as walk-in extras. Here is how the process works.

1
Book Your Journey

Start your booking online at rydelynk.co.uk/book or call +44 20 8103 0477. Select your vehicle, journey details, and proceed to the extras section.

2
Specify Your Child

Tell us your child's age and weight. This allows us to fit the correct seat type before your pickup. For multiple children, provide details for each child separately.

3
We Prepare the Seat

Your driver fits and checks the appropriate seat before collecting you. The seat will be installed, adjusted to your child's size, and ready for use when you board.

4
Travel Safely

Your driver will assist with getting your child safely into the seat if needed. All seats meet UK regulation standards and are cleaned and inspected before every journey.

Your Child's Safety
Is Not Optional

We take child safety seriously. Every seat we provide meets UK legal requirements and is maintained to the highest standard between journeys.

UK Legal Compliance
All seats comply with ECE R44/04 or the newer i-Size (ECE R129) standard. We never use seats that do not meet current UK regulations.
Cleaned Before Every Journey
Every seat is cleaned and inspected before use. No seat with visible damage, wear, or a history of impact is used in any vehicle.
No Second-Hand or Damaged Seats
We do not use second-hand seats or any seat involved in a previous impact, even if it appears undamaged. Seat integrity after a collision cannot be visually confirmed.
Trained Installation
Our drivers are trained on correct seat installation. The seat is fitted, checked, and adjusted before you board — not after.

Important Information
Before You Book

Pre-Booking is Essential

Child seats must be requested at the time of booking — we cannot accommodate last-minute requests on the day. Please book in advance and include your child's age and weight in the booking notes.

Age and Weight Required

UK law requires the use of the correct seat for a child's weight and height. We need your child's current age and weight to fit the appropriate restraint — not their age alone, as children vary considerably.

Multiple Children

We can accommodate up to two child seats in a single vehicle depending on vehicle class and the ages of the children. Please let us know the details for each child when booking so we can confirm availability.

Bringing Your Own Seat

You are welcome to bring your own child seat. Please let us know at the time of booking so your driver is prepared. Your own seat will be treated with the same care and fitted securely by your driver.

Recommended Vehicle Classes

For families with child seats, we recommend the XL (Volkswagen Sharan) or larger. These vehicles provide more space to fit and access seats comfortably alongside adult passengers and luggage.

Legal Responsibility

Under UK law, the responsibility for ensuring a child travels in an appropriate restraint rests with the driver. RydeLynk takes this obligation seriously and will not proceed with a booking where the correct seat has not been arranged.

Your Questions
Answered

Everything parents need to know before booking a journey with a child seat.

  • No. Child seats are provided at no additional charge. The only requirement is that you request the seat at the time of booking — we cannot accommodate same-day or last-minute requests. Your fixed fare includes the child seat as part of the service.

  • We recommend booking your child seat journey at least 24 hours in advance. This allows us to ensure the correct seat type is available and properly prepared for your journey. For airport transfers, we recommend booking at least 48 hours ahead. We cannot fit a child seat for same-day bookings.

  • UK law and child seat regulations classify seats by weight and height, not age — because children of the same age can vary significantly in size. Fitting a seat based on age alone can mean a child is in the wrong restraint group. We ask for your child's current weight so we can be certain the seat is appropriate and compliant.

  • Yes. We can accommodate up to two child seats depending on the vehicle class and the types of seats required. Please provide the age and weight for each child when booking and we will confirm whether the combination is possible in your chosen vehicle. We recommend the XL or XXL for families with two young children and associated luggage.

  • Yes. You are welcome to bring your own approved child seat. Please inform us at the time of booking so your driver knows to expect it. Your driver will install it securely and check it before departure. Please note that we can only use seats that conform to current UK standards — we will not fit a seat that does not carry the appropriate approval marking.

  • Yes — airport transfers are one of the most common reasons families request child seats with us. We cover all five London airports. For airport pickups, the seat will be installed before your driver enters the arrivals hall, so it is ready the moment you reach the vehicle. Please book at least 48 hours before your flight or landing time.

  • If, on the day of travel, it becomes clear that the seat prepared is not appropriate for your child's size — for example if the details provided at booking were inaccurate — your driver is instructed to not proceed with the journey until the correct seat can be arranged. Your child's safety takes priority over the schedule. Please provide accurate age and weight details when booking to avoid this situation.
